Starting in Business?
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 | News Item
Are you a new or recent Business Start-up?
In our role helping and assisting new businesses, we want our customers to be aware of current regulation. Here are some key points.
First things first:
- Register with HM Revenue & Customs as soon as you start working for yourself. You may have to pay a penalty if you haven’t registered within the first 3 months. A useful guide is the award winning Working for Yourself. Another useful booklet is Thinking of Working for Yourself?
- Do you want to, or have to, register for VAT? Please have a look at this link from the Revenue & Customs website.
- You may need to appoint an accountant to help with your business accounts and maybe your payroll. Your accountant should also be able to help you with tax planning advice. Before you appoint an accountant think about what you want from them. Do you only need help with the accounts or do you also want them to help with your business planning, advertising and marketing?
- At Anglesey Accounting, we offer all these services and more, so please think about what help you do need so you can make an informed choice.
